Daardoor zijn de Vlaamse Landmaatschappij (VLM), de Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij (VMM), het Agentschap Natuur en Bos (ANB), het Regionaal Landschap en de lokale besturen kunnen starten met de werken aan een betere natuurlijke verbinding tussen het Meerdaalwoud en Zoni\u00ebnwoud. Ze is een zijrivier van de Dijle en ontspringt in het Zoni\u00ebnwoud in Hoeilaart en loopt verder via Overijse. Met het plan wordt de IJsevallei kwalitatief ontwikkeld en wordt de open ruimte in de Rand verder versterkt. De werken worden opgedeeld in negen actiegebieden en komen de volgende jaren ten goede van lokale landbouwers, bewoners en bezoekers. Dankzij de natuurmaatregelen zullen ook de lucht- en waterkwaliteit erop vooruit gaan.<\/p>\n<p>Minister van Leefmilieu Koen Van den Heuvel:\u00a0<em>\u201cOpen ruimte in de Vlaamse Rand is een schaars goed, dus zoeken we steeds naar kansen om die ruimte kwalitatief in te richten. Door middel van het landinrichtingsplan IJsevallei investeert Vlaanderen meer dan 3 miljoen euro in groen dat toegankelijk is voor iedereen.
